Click for a summary of maintenance requirements to be performed by the operator.  Specific pages in the manuals are indicated in each sterilizer section.  Always ensure that you will take the recommended/required safety precautions while performing maintenance of your sterilizers.

1. Clean door seal

Weekly
1. Drain and Clean the distilled water tank: Drain unused water. Use isopropyl alcohol or a medical disinfectant to clean the inner surface.
2. Clean the sterilization chamber: Remove trays and rack. Wipe inner surface with a smooth cloth saturated with distilled water. Clean the trays and rack in the same way.
3. Clean the door seal: Use a smooth cloth saturated with distilled water.

Monthly
1. Clean the filters in the chamber and tank.

Every 3 months
1. Replace the bacteria filter.

Every 6-12 months
1. Replace the door seal:
a. Remove the existing door seal carefully, by hand.
b. Clean the seal ring with a smooth cloth saturated with distilled water.
c. Moisten the new seal with a medical disinfectant or isopropyl alcohol or distilled water.

1. Clean chamber, trays and rack: Remove the trays and rack form the chamber. Clean them with mild soap. Rinse with distilled water, using a smooth cloth.
2. Examine the door seal for possible damage: Clean door seal and mating surfaces with a damp cloth.
3. Do not use bleaching agents or any abrasive materials in the chamber.
4. Drain and clean the distilled water tank.

Every month or every 100 cycles
1. Clean the filter inside the chamber and in the distilled water tank.
a. Unplug the power cable or trip the circuit breaker at the back of the unit.
b. Drain the tank completely using the drain connector at the front of the sterilizer and leave it connected to a tube in the open position.
c. Clean the internal surface with a soft sponge and a small soft brush for the areas difficult to reach, using distilled water.
d. Remove the filter and clean it with a small soft brush and mild soap, rinse it with distilled water and put it back into the position.

Every 6 months or every 500 cycles
1. Replace the bacteriological filter: This is located in the back of the sterilizer. Unscrew the filter by hand, counterclockwise. Place the new filter in position by hand, clockwise.

Every year or every 1000 cycles
1. Replace door seal, tubing, filters, check valves. a. Remove the existing door seal carefully, by hand.
b. Clean the seal ring with a smooth cloth saturated with distilled water.
c. Moisten the new seal with a medical disinfectant or isopropyl alcohol or distilled water.
d. Insert the new door seal and press it in first at the top and bottom, then the sides and remaining areas.

Midmark M3 (white)

Daily
1. Clean external surfaces, tray and chamber: Use only quaternary disinfectants. Do not use alcohol or bleach.
2. Clean chamber filter: Check that it is free of debris and is properly positioned in the hold at the back of thechamber.
3. Clean door gasket and mating surface: Wash with a damp cloth, inspect for damage and replace if necessary.

Periodically
1. Drain and refill reservoir as needed: Connect the adapter-end of the drain hose to the coupling in teh front of the unit. Remove once the water has drained. Refill reservoir with distilled water.
2. Empty and clean the external condensing tank as needed: Empty the water from the tank, do not reuse. Clean with diluted bleach solution, rinse thoroughly. Refill the tank to the minimum water level indicator line.

Monthly
1. Remove and clean filter: Wash with mild soap solution, rinse with distilled water. Scrub with a stiff brush or place in ultrasonic cleaner if necessary.
2.Clean condensing tank level sensors: Use mild soap solution, then wipe dry.

Midmark M3 (old)

1. Clean external surfaces: Wash the exterior of the sterilizer each day. Use only quaternary disinfectants to disinfect the unit. Wipe all external surfaces with a damp cloth.
2. Clean sterilizer door/dam gaskets: Examine the gaskets for possible damage. Clean gaskets and mating surfaces with a damp cloth.

Weekly
1. Clean chamber, racks and trays: Disconnect the upper portion of the reservoir drain tube from the panel clips, bend it downward and drain the reservoir water into a suitable container. Remove the trays, rackand plate from the chamber. Wash using mild soap or Speed Clean with distilled water. Refill reservoir with distilled water or water that meets the referenced water purity specifications.

Monthly
1. Clean chamber and plumbing: With a cooled chamber, drain the reservoir and refill with distilled water. Add one ounce of Speed-Clean sterilizer cleaner directly to the bottom of the chamber. Run one Pouches cycle. Press the Stop button when the Dry Cycle begins. Drain reservoir and refill a second time with distilled water. Run one Unwrapped cycle. Press Stop when the Dry Cycle begins. Drain and refill the reservoir with distilled water then allow the sterilizer to cool.
Remove tray plate, rack and trays. Wipe with a damp cloth.
Remove and clean filters. Clean with Speed-Clean and distilled water. Use a small stiff brush or place in an ultrasonic cleaner if necessary. Rinse with distilled water. Replace if debris cannot be removed.
Wipe out inside of chamber, install filters, replace plate, rack and trays.
2. Remove and clean door and dam gaskets: Remove and clean with Speed-Clean, distilled water and a soft brush. Inspect for damage or deformations. Replace if required. Press the ring back into its channel and install the dam gasket.

1. Visual check of door seal and inner door panel: Check for and remove any deposits with a soft cotton cloth.
2. Visual check of chamber: Remove trays, check for and remove debris.
3. Monitor the sterile air intake valve: Check to see if it is free of dust.
4. monitor the door spindle: It should always be lightly lubricated.

Every month or every 50 cycles
1. Check that the door seal is sitting correctly in its groove.
2. Check chamber for signs of corrosion: Clean if necessary, using a sponge and clean water.
3. Lubricate door spindle.
4. Clean outer casing using a soft cotton cloth and neutral liquid cleaning agents.

Every 6 months or every 400 cycles
1. Replace sterile air intake filter.

Every year or every 2000 cycles
1. Replace door seal.

Pelton & Crane Delta Q

1. Clean chamber.

Weekly
1. check door gasket for leaks and deposits: Clean with Omni-Cleaner or mild detergent and water.
2. Check door latch for signs of wear or improper closure.
3. Test door switch buy trying to start a cycle with the door open.
4. Check boiler ring for deposits and clean if required.

Monthly
1. Remove water filter and clean in an ultrasonic cleaner.

Every 3 months
1. Check safety valve by manually activating it when the chamber pressure reaches 121 kPa. It should retract when the pressure is relieved.

Every year
1. Replace air filter.

1. Cassette: Wash the interior of the cassette with chlorine-free dishwashing detergent or soap. Rinse thoroughly with water.
2. Unit: Complete a full sterilization cycle, including the full Air Drying phase, at the end of each day of use.
3. Water Reservoir: Drain Daily.

Weekly
1. Air Filter: Check for dirt and moisture. Call for service if wet.
2. Biological Air Filter: Check for dirt and moisture. Call for service if wet.

Every 6 months
1. Replace cassette seal.

Every 6 months or every 500 cycles
1. Replace air filter.

Yearly
1. Cassette: Check tray, lid and seal for damage, replace if necessary.
2. Air Filters: Check, replace if dirty.
3. Solenoid: Inspect the valve, clean if dirty. Replace the plunger if defective.
4. Pump: Clean, replace if dirty.
5. Check Valve: Remove the air compressor tube from the check valve inlet while running a cycle. make sure no steam is leaking from the valve. Replace if there are any leaks.
6. Water Reservoir: Check for dirt. Clean and rinse with distilled water if necessary.
7. Calibration: Calibrate the unit (by a technician).

SciCan Statim G4 2000/5000

Daily
1. Water Reservoir: Replace water as needed. For opthalmic use, drain after each working day, leave empty and refill at the start of the next workday.
2. Waste Bottle: Empty the waste bottle every time you refill the reservoir. Fill with tap water up to MIN line marking. You may also add some chlorine-free disinfectant.
3. Unit: Complete a full sterilization cycle, including the full Air Drying phase, at the end of each day of use.

Weekly
1. Cassette: Wash the interior of the cassette with dishwashign soap or a mild chlorine-free detergent. Scrub the inside with a cleaning pad designed for use with teflon-coated surfaces.
2. Biological and/or Air Filter: Check for dirt and moisture. Replace if dirty. Call for service if wet.
3. Water Filter: Check the water reservoir filter every week and clean if necessary. Replace only if necessary.

Every 6 months or every 500 cycles
1. Replace cassette seal, only if necessary.
2. Replace Biological and/or Air Filter.

Yearly
1. Cassette: Check the tray, lid and seal for damage. Replace if necessary.
2. Biological Filter: Inspect the filter for moisture.
3. Solenoid Valve: Inspect the valve and clean if dirty. Replace the pluger if defective.
4. Pump: Clean the filters, replace if dirty.
5. Check Valve: Remove the exhaust tube from the back of the unit during the air drying cycle. Check for air coming from the fitting.
Remove the air compressor tube from the check valve inlet while running a cycle. Make sure no steam is leaking from the valve. Replace if there are any leaks.
6. Water Reservoir: Check the reservoir for dirt. Clean and rinse with steam distilled water or VistaPure deionized water if necessary.
7. Calibration: Calibrate the unit (by a technician).

Extended non-use of Unit
If the Statim is not going to be in use for a week or more, ensure that a full sterilization cycle, which must include the full air drying phase, is completed before the period of non-use. After the period of non-use and before any instruments are sterilized, run three wrapped cycles. Remove the cassette once it has cooled. Clean the top and bottom sections using a soft cloth to wipe the inside surfaces and then rinse thoroughly with tap water.

1. Clean the door, gasket and outside rim of the chamber with a mild detergent solution and a soft cloth.
2. Remove the tray holder and trays. Wipe out the inside.
3. Clean tray holder and trays with a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner, water and soft cloth. Rinse immediately.

Weekly
1. Clean outer parts of the autoclave with a soft cloth.
2. Replace mineral free water in the reservoir
3. Drain the waste water reservoir weekly, or when prompted to by the sterilizer.
4. Lubricate all door pins and any moving parts of the door locking mechanism.

Monthly
1. Check both safety valves.
2. Clean the strainer.

Every 3 months
1. Check door gasket for any signs of damage, replace if necessary.

4. Remove tray rack and trays. Clean with a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner and soft cloth. Rinse immediately, wipe dry.
5. Lubricate the door pins and tightening bolt.
6. Clean the outer parts of the autoclave with a soft cloth.

Monthly
1. Clean and check the safety valve.
2. Clean the strainer.

Every 6 months
1. Replace the air filter, or as needed.
2. Clean the fan grid with compressed air from the inside outward.

Yearly
1. Replace the door gasket, or as needed.
2. Inspect the locking device for excessive wear.
