I get an erorr message.

Click Continue. Sometimes, there’s a lag or stall in processing and Continue bypasses the problem. If it can’t handle the problem, the software will shut down. If it is persistent, please contact us directly.

Can I leave SteriReader running all the time?

Yes, the software will be just fine if you leave it on all the time. However, SteriSpore will shut down automatically once the test is verified and the gmail (if applicable) has been sent.

Can I verify a cycle the next day?

You shouldn’t, but yes, you can.  Everything works much better if you verify a cycle on the day it occurs.  However, if you don’t, most of the cycle will be saved, then, when you’re back, double-click the SteriReader graphic in the upper banner of the interface to activate the Emergency Label function.  This will append the cycle log with the contents list and print your labels.

Are updates included?

Updates are installed automatically and are included with your subscription. The software will look for updates automatically at each startup and at certain times each day and month. If updates are available, you will be notified on the main screen. Updates are installed when the software is shut down.

How do I set-up the Send an Alert function?

Your internet and/or email provider will have this information on their website under Email Server Settings or something similar. You’ll need to know the Port (which is usually 25, but may be 587) and the Host, which is usually the smtp server (eg, for Bell, it may be smtphm.sympatico.ca).

Gmail won’t send.

This often occurs if you haven’t enabled Allow Less Secure Apps within Security Settings. Login to your google account and enable this security feature. You will likely need to choose a new password afterward. Within the software, click the Test button to confirm that it works.

Nothng happens!

Be sure you’ve clicked Connect before starting a cycle.

I’ve hit connect but still, nothing happens!

The first thing to do is check the connections of both the transmitter (if you can) and the receiver.  Other times, it may depend on your sterilizer: ome sterilizers produce data at the very end of the cycle, so it appears that nothing is happening during a cycle. Or, the transmitter/receiver may need to be reset.

How do I reset a TransLogger?

It’s simple.  Unplug its cable and wait 30s to 2mins.  Plug it back in to reboot it.

How do I reassign sterilizers?

There are several steps involved to accomplish this and doing it yourself for the first time will be intimidating.  It is best to call us and we’ll talk you through it. However, what to do is open one instance of SteriReader and instead of connecting to a sterilizer, double-click on “Port.” This will erase all saved sterilizer assignments and the software will close. We call it a “smart bomb reset.”  Then, unplug each receiver from the PC or USB hub, or turn off each port on the hub (use the switches). Each transmitter/receiver pair is colour coded. Determine which receiver corresponds to your “A” sterilizer and plug it back in or flip its switch. Open SteriReader and you will be presented with two blank boxes. The left is a pull-down box: select the brand of sterilizer. The right is a textbox: type [brand] A (eg, STATIM A) and hit Connect to save. Plug in the second receiver, corresponding to your “B” sterilizer and repeat. Repeat for all remaining sterilizers. Please avoid unplugging receivers unless you absolutely have to. If you need help with this process, please contact info@sterisimple.ca as soon as possible.

A cycle was only partially recorded.

It could be that some information was missed at the beginning of the cycle. Check View Results within Settings to see if there’s a file called “Written info” associated with that cycle. This is the actual report produced by the sterilizer. If no such file exists and you need labels, double-click on SteriReader in the upper graphic banner on the user interface, which will activate the Emergency Label function. This function will append and update any partially recorded cycle logs, or at least will record a contents list associated with that cycle.

What if I’ve missed verifying the results?

If you’ve gone home before verifying the results of a cycle, you can still get labels. Double-click on SteriReader in the upper graphic banner on the user interface, which will activate the Emergency Label function. This function will append and update any partially recorded cycle logs to complete them, or at least will record a contents list associated with that cycle.

What if I didn’t get labels?

You can click Reprint on the main menu bar to select some or all of the labels from the most recent cycle. Or, if they do not exist, double-click on SteriReader in the upper graphic banner on the user interface, which will activate the Emergency Label function. This function will append and update any partially recorded cycle logs, or at least will record a contents list associated with that cycle.

What are Emergency Labels?

Maybe they shouldn’t be called Emergency Labels, but it’s a function where you can get or make labels that weren’t produced, for whatever reason, at the end of a cycle.  Double-click SteriReader in the top graphic banner to activate this function.

No daily summary report was printed.

Be sure you’ve selected a printer and that the Auto Print box is checked on the main menu bar.

A dialog prompt pops up at the end of a cycle.

This occurs when you’ve selected something other than a printer, like Microsoft XPS Document Writer or OneNote, or if the selected printer is offline. The software is looking for a printer to send the report to, but gets confused. Please ensure that you’ve selected a proper printer from the selection within Settings (Select Printer).

I get an error at the end of sterilization.

This often occurs when a cycle is manually stopped at the end of sterilization, but before drying occurs. Statims are notorious for this. It is very important to wait at least until drying starts before manually stopping a cycle.

When should I use the Reset button?

Use this if you need to restart recording of a manually stopped cycle. Pressing Reset will clear the screen after you’ve been prompted to confirm.

Do I need to verify errors?

No, you should still check and attend to them, but SteriReader will automatically record the error and will notify you on screen. You can check the report from Settings (View Results).
